Bradford White RE2HP6510 in practice
The RE2HP6510 is the 65-gallon member of the AeroTherm Series G2 and the highest-rated of the three Canadian models at UEF 4.20 per AHRI. In the factory Hybrid Standard mode it delivers an 82 US gallon (310 L) first-hour rating, which puts its delivery in the class of a typical gas tank while the heat pump does the everyday heating.
The heat pump runs only in 3–49 °C ambient air and the unit falls back to the elements outside that range. It cools and dehumidifies the room, needs a condensate drain and a 240 V circuit, and carries a 26 in (660 mm) jacket, so floor space and door openings are part of the specification. Hot water and scalding
- Water above 49 °C at a tap can scald in seconds, and children and older adults are at most risk. BC's plumbing code limits shower and bathtub water to 49 °C.
- Storage tanks are normally kept hotter (Health Canada advises 60 °C) to limit Legionella growth, with a thermostatic mixing valve tempering the water to the fixtures.
