The RG2PDV40S6N is the 40-gallon member of the Defender power direct vent family, built for the tightly insulated basement with no chimney and no combustion air to spare: a blower pulls outside air through one vent pipe and exhaust leaves through the other, up to 35 ft in 2 in or 85 ft in 3 in PVC-family pipe, with a concentric kit for a single wall exit. The intake run must never exceed the exhaust run.
It carries the Defender Safety System flammable-vapour-ignition-resistant design and the ICON System electronic control, which removes the standing pilot and lifts the medium-draw UEF to 0.70. Maintenance the manufacturer specifies

Hot water and scalding
- Water above 49 °C at a tap can scald in seconds, and children and older adults are at most risk. BC's plumbing code limits shower and bathtub water to 49 °C.
