The Bradford White RG250S6N is a 50 US gallon (189 L) atmospheric-vent natural gas storage water heater with a high 50,000 BTU/h input, 75 US gallon first-hour rating, 204 L/h recovery and UEF 0.63, sold in Canada through wholesale channels. It recovers faster than any other Defender atmospheric tank.

Bradford White RG250S6N in practice
The RG250S6N is the high-input member of the 50-gallon Defender atmospheric family: at 50,000 BTU/h it recovers about 54 US gal/h (204 L/h) at a 50 °C rise, which makes it the fastest-recovering atmospheric tank on the Canadian sheet. Its first-hour rating of 75 US gallons (284 L) is six gallons below the RG250T6N despite the larger burner, because first-hour delivery reflects stored volume and recovery together and the sheet's tested tank differs between the two.
Because its input exceeds 40,000 BTU/h, it takes a 4 in (102 mm) draft hood only, so the chimney or B-vent must accept a 4 in connection. It draws combustion air from the room and needs no electricity. UEF 0.63 is a medium-draw rating below ENERGY STAR. Whether CANRO stocks this model for a given job is confirmed at consultation.

Maintenance the manufacturer specifies
- Inspect the anode rod every 2 years and replace when depleted; more often with softened water (manual, Maintenance item 9).

Hot water and scalding
- Water above 49 °C at a tap can scald in seconds, and children and older adults are at most risk. BC's plumbing code limits shower and bathtub water to 49 °C.
- Storage tanks are normally kept hotter (Health Canada advises 60 °C) to limit Legionella growth, with a thermostatic mixing valve tempering the water to the fixtures.
- Never bypass or remove a mixing valve, thermostat or high-limit control to get hotter water.

Is the RG250S6N sold in Canada?
Yes. It is listed on Bradford White's Canadian residential gas page and on Canadian spec sheet C1101. Bradford White sells only through wholesalers, so it is supplied and installed by contractors such as CANRO.
How is this different from the RG250T6N?
Both are 50-gallon tall tanks, but the S6N carries a 50,000 BTU/h input with a 4 in vent connection and faster recovery (204 L/h versus 163 L/h), while the T6N has a 40,000 BTU/h input with a 3 or 4 in connection and a higher 81 US gallon first-hour rating.
Can the RG250S6N run on propane?
The propane version is the RG250S6X with a 48,000 BTU/h input. Fuel conversion is not a field procedure on this model; order the correct fuel version.
